Please Don’t Forget!

Please Don’t Forget!

“Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:”  Psalm 103:1-2

“Remember His marvelous works which He has done,
His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,” Psalm 105:5

“They forgot God their Savior,
Who had done great things in Egypt,” Psalm 106:21

“They soon forgot His works;” Psalm 106:13

Oh, how I love the Psalms! I feel I could never tire of reading them, of being comforted by God through them, of seeing His tender love and mercy in them, and on and on. Always new treasures it seems I find in them. When I pay heed to the Spirit of Christ teaching me as I go along. Like the day He brought to light this message.

About forgetting. About remembering. Why would the Lord tell us not to forget His works? Why would He tell us to remember them? That’s what He does in the verses above, right? And that’s not all! He through the psalmist shows us the Israelites after all the amazingly wonderful things the Lord had done for them forgot. Not just what He had done. They forgot Him. They reaped the rewards of God’s astoundingly awesome goodness and then neglected to glorify Him as Lord and continue to acknowledge His goodness.

Think they’re alone in this? What about you and me? Do we not if we’re honest with ourselves forget to acknowledge God at times? Forget to acknowledge His goodness sometimes? Forget all the stunningly beautiful and glorious things He’s done in our lives beginning with saving us from His wrath and hell and the lake of fire for those of us who have turned from our sins and believed in Jesus as Lord who died on the cross to pay our sin penalty and was raised from the dead? Forget His goodness from even just hours ago? Take for granted His blessings like right down to the fact He gives us our very next breath?

The Lord is reminding us to love and honor Him, to praise and worship Him, to thank Him and to adore Him, to be consciously grateful for all that He has done and continues to do in our lives. Most of all, we need to be thankful to God that He is Lord!

So tragic, isn’t it, that we need this reminder. Yet the reality is in our humanness we tend to receive our blessings, to thank the Lord for them if we even do that, and to rush onward into the rest of our busy lives.

Let us take the time daily to praise the Lord, to remember His goodness, and to tell others about the Lord and His awesomeness!

Let us praise the Lord, friend, for who He is and all that He has done in our pasts, for all He is doing in our lives in the present, and, most of all, for the fact Jesus Christ is Lord forevermore!

A Thank You Break

I was feeling a little down. A little discouraged. A little frustrated. Definitely tired. Very homesick. 14.5 hours away from my parents whom I dearly missed. A long day. Not too productive. Not like I wanted to be anyway. Ate too much. Yuck. A long history of anorexia, now so much weight gain. I plunked down on my bed to get to my laptop to do some administrative work – something I like as much as kids love spinach and liver. That’s when it dawned on me. I needed a THANK YOU BREAK.

Gone Astray

I had met him before. We had already talked about the Lord Jesus Christ. I had seen him a few times since. I knew the answer regardless of how he responded. About whether or not he was sincerely following the Lord Jesus Christ. About whether he was living his life in obedience to God. About whether he was submitted to God’s will and purpose. About whether he was reading the Bible and living according to it. Or whether he was off the path.

How Can You Hear God If…?

How can you hear God speaking directly and personally and intimately to you if… You have not turned from your sins and received Jesus Christ as Lord through believing He died on the cross to pay your sin punishment and was raised from the dead whereby you genuinely commit your life to God and His ways? You are not sealed with and filled with God’s Holy Spirit who lives inside His followers and leads us and empowers and equips us through our lives to love, worship, and live for God and to build, help, support, and encourage His Kingdom of followers? You do not spend time alone with God praying to Him, praising and worshiping Him, seeking and waiting on Him, and reading the Bible which is the number one way to hear from God and in line with which His Spirit speaks to our hearts?

Don’t Do It

I started to do it. Then came God’s voice. The Spirit of God living inside me. Telling me NO. Telling me what would be the negative consequences of the action I was about to take. Then my flesh responded. I would do it anyway. I wanted to. I had the right to make up my own mind. I could handle the consequences. But no sooner than I started in the direction the Lord told me not to go than I felt His hand from heaven restrain me. Hold me back. Keep me from going where I was headed. In the wrong direction.

Three Things God Loves

I was on my knees when the Lord reminded me of three things He loves. Very simple. Straightforward. Clear. And true. For He always and only speaks in line with His Word. And His Word confirms He had in fact given me this message. God loves LOVE. God loves HUMILITY. God loves PURITY.
