A Thank You Break

A Thank You Break

BY LARALOVE

“Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:” Psalm 103:1-2

“I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works.” Psalm 9:1

“Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.” Psalm 30:4

“Offer to God thanksgiving, And pay your vows to the Most High.” Psalm 50:14

“So we, Your people and sheep of Your pasture, Will give You thanks forever; We will show forth Your praise to all generations.” Psalm 79:13

I was feeling a little down. A little discouraged. A little frustrated. Definitely tired. Very homesick. 14.5 hours away from my parents whom I dearly missed. A long day. Not too productive. Not like I wanted to be anyway. Ate too much. Yuck. A long history of anorexia, now so much weight gain. I plunked down on my bed to get to my laptop to do some administrative work – something I like as much as kids love spinach and liver. That’s when it dawned on me. I needed a THANK YOU BREAK.

A few moments of THANKING GOD for His countless blessings. Most importantly Himself. And a forever relationship with Him through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. And for so very many other things. Including in that very day. I needed to stop everything I was doing and hit the pause button. And look to the Lord. And thank Him.

So simple. So necessary. Something that should be part of the fabric of our everyday lives. But sometimes we get so busy. And sometimes we get so distracted. Or down and discouraged. Or whatever. Maybe even so entrenched in enjoying our blessings. That we forget to do this.

To thank God. For His awesomeness. And for all that He is and does. Shouldn’t we take time out in our everyday lives for a THANK YOU BREAK? I know I should. What about you?

Please Don’t Forget!

About forgetting. About remembering. Why would the Lord tell us not to forget His works? Why would He tell us to remember them? That’s what He does in the verses above, right? And that’s not all! He through the psalmist shows us the Israelites after all the amazingly wonderful things the Lord had done for them forgot. Not just what He had done. They forgot Him. They reaped the rewards of God’s astoundingly awesome goodness and then neglected to glorify Him as Lord and continue to acknowledge His goodness.

Come Back to Jesus!

How about you, friend? May I ask you this? Have you turned from your sins and received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Is your life truly devoted to Him? Do you bear the fruit of a life lived for Christ? And, if so, are you taking the love, time, and care daily to tell the world about Him? Are you sold out to Jesus? And to telling people the only way to everlasting life is through Christ?

Help Me to Love

Why do I pray this? Why am I sharing this with you? To love is not always so very easy. Sometimes it is so very hard. Sometimes it seems impossible. At times I have been so very mad at God because of my life’s challenges at the time, or because I didn’t get something I prayed for, that I had everything but love in my heart. I had everything but praise in my mind and my mouth. I missed love in my actions. Oh, how wrong I was to be mad at God! I needed to purify myself and love the Lord instead. With all my heart. As He commands us.
